World of Warcraft: quest tracking preview
November 17

Blizzard Entertainment has released a special preview of the new quest tracking system coming to World of Warcraft in patch 3.3. The quest tracking system allows players to track quest objectives on the map without the use of a third-party addon.

"Show Map" Button: A new "Show Map" button has been added to the quest log. It will take any quests in a player's log for the particular zone and show a map, as illustrated above.

Revised Map: The zone map will now automatically show any quests in the zone that the player has. The map is now also split into four panes: the map, the active quests for the zone (marked by numbers to act as a legend), a quest description pane, and a quest rewards pane. The map can also be docked into a small pane that allows the player to continue to see their character, while removing all other panes. Players can also toggle on a filtering of quest difficulty by color.

Areas of Interest: When highlighting a specific quest, areas of interest will appear on the map. This is particularly useful when looking for quest items or quest enemies, as it will highlight the area in which these quest objectives can be found. If there are multiple areas, the tracker will show the closest area to the player's current location.
